Presentación

Professor Néstor Escalona B. has been a member of the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemical Science at the University of Concepción, Chile since 2004. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Santiago, Chile in 1997, and a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Santiago, Chile, in 2002, under the advisory of Prof. Francisco J. Gil Llambias. In 2005 he carried out postdoctoral research at the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l’Environnement de Lyon, France. Professor Escalona has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of heterogeneous catalysis, catalyst characterization and biofuels. His area of expertise and fields of interest includes hydrotreating (HDS and HDN) reactions of model compounds and real feed, biomass gasification and Fischer Tropsch reaction, and catalytic upgrading of bio-oil and lignin model compounds. He has actively participated in more than 100 national and international conferences. He has also authored chapters of catalysis books.
